Longji and Jinkeng rice terraces
Two days private tour from Yangshuo to
the stunning scenery of the Longji rice terraces (150 km from
Yangshuo). You can either hike to the Jinkeng rice terraces
accompanied by one of our guide or make a visit to a nearer local village. In both you will see the local minorities
such as the Zhuang and the Yao women well known for their very long hair. The tour is
open to
all (Rosewood inn guest and others).

The Longji Terraces are
located near
Longsheng north of Guilin. The rice terraces where first built
in the Yuan dynasty (13th century) by the Yao and Zhuang people. This
tour takes you off the main track by making a one day hike between the
village of Ping'an and the other side of the mountain to the less
frequented and higher Jinkeng rice terraces. Peaceful and incredible
panoramic views.
DAY
1
Leave at 8h00 in the morning from the hotel,
drive 3 to 3.5 hours to Longsheng county, lunch in Ping'an
village, visit Longji Terrace Fields and
villages of minority Zhuang, Yao people. The guide will take
you along small trails away from the crowd to some scenic
spots. Stay overnight at Ping'an in a local wooden lodge.
DAY
2
Leave in the morning for a 4 to 5 hours
trek to the village of Dazhai and the Jinkeng Terraces. Walk
to the highest point of the terraces at 1180 m. If this trek is too
long for you you can go for a shorter walk to another minority village
and back to Ping'an (2 hours). Meet with the local Yao
women with their famous colourful dresses, silver jewels and long black
hair
that can sometimes touch the ground. Return to the
taxi before dark, drive
back to Yangshuo and
transfer to the hotel.

The prices in foreign currencies are just an indication
and fluctuate in
time (last up-date 26 March 2009). If you want to pay in your local
currency, the cost will be
calculated from the chinese price and converted on a
daily base rate. 20% discount for children under 1m40. Free for babies (less than 2 years old).
The tour price
includes :
- Air-conditioned vehicle with an experimented driver.
- Hotel accomodation at Ping'an in a local wooden lodge with
air-conditioned.

- Lunch (you are free to choose the type of food that
suits you best.
Our guide can advise you according to your taste, expect about 30 to 50
yuan for a meal per person, guide included).

Options
:
- Instead of sleeping in Ping'an the first day you can do the
walk to the rice terraces of Jinkeng and sleep in a local village lodge
(simple facilities - 40 yuan less per double room on the total
price).
- For those who would prefer not to hike between Ping'an and
Dazhai it is possible to drive you to the Jinkeng
terraces along a small road.
